Don't ask.

Something On My Radar:

How To Read Lacan, by Slavoj Zizek

Lacan is hard to read, so let's get someone to explain it...oh, ZIZEK SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT CHOICE

If you like either of these people - or, like me, were just looking for a bit of an on-ramp to the Ecrits - this book has been fun. I have always found Zizek impenetrable (possibly I'm just not as smart as I think), but he's a fascinating read and it's been helpful to watch someone riff on Lacan in this way. Recommended.

The Death of the Key Change.

Read this and found myself nodding along - makes a strong point about the effect of electronic interfaces on musical composition.

We Should Be Measuring Well-Being Catalysis, Not (trying and largely failing to measure) Economic Productivity

I glossed over some of the economic stuff, personally - but was drawn to the discussion of how, exactly, to measure well-being. Obviously has a strong correlate in this week's BQ email.

Is Success a Matter of Getting Addicted to the Right Things?

Fun ride with a kick in the gut at the end.

Funeral

Still going through The Last Psychiatrist archives and man...this one was a doozy. It has been on my mind ever since.

a tpot directory

A really well done directory of people and projects from one of my preferred parts of the Twitter-verse. Well worth a read.
